We have been living in Korea for 8 years, in the Incheon...
We have been living in Korea for 8 years, in the Incheon area, meaning that Seoul and Suwon are about 1h drive. While Seoul is a 10-million city that is huge, Suwon has a true city feeling with a 'center' that just feels very city-like from a European perspective. That is why it's our favored place to go for shopping, a city walk, or a weekend trip escaping the otherwise never-ending work pressure. So many 'local' places with good food, which makes the city alive. The center feels 'historic' even with the main palace being a recently-build copy of what once was. So, we have been their many times, and will come in the future. Every season, the city has a different charm.

I went to Motgol market, Jidong market and Hwaseong fortress and all three were very nice, the markets were an authentic experience.
When I visit historical places like the fortress I prefer to take a guided tour or at least read about it before but that visit was spontaneous so I mostly enjoyed the walk along the wall.

I have been in Korea almost a year.
I have been in Korea almost a year. I love Korean culture and food but miss the US sometimes. The mall reminded me of the United States. Outback, PF Chang’s, on the border. Nice taste of home. Getting around Suwon is easy as the Novotel hotel was literally a stones throw from train

It's a suburb so there are some things to do at any time of day, however there aren't any of the famous Seoul attractions there. If you don't like large crowds, it's a pretty good place from what I've seen of it.

Hwasong fortress is the highlight and is a good walk up there and around the wall. Good bit of history surrounding the fortress as well. I went to see a Suwon Bluewings match when I was there too at the world cup stadium which I would highly recommend, a great day out for any sports fan, good atmosphere. I was also lucky enough to be there for the annual hwasong cultural festival which was a great spectacle. It's worth keeping in mind that, even with these activities I had too, 2 nights was fine for Suwon as it isnt a big place.

Suwon is an amazing city with a lot of diversity.
Suwon is an amazing city with a lot of diversity. We arrived to Suwon on an express train from Seoul. The station itself is a great destination with a fantastic mall which features a large, modern cinema and excellent clothing shops.
We stayed in ingye-ro which has great nightlife and loads of restaurants, all close together.
The area in Hwaseong is perfect for a day-out, we went during the Cultural Festival which is held every October and the area really comes alive during this time. However, it is a brilliant place to visit anytime as there are lots of historical buildings all within a small area and a nice riverside walk through the centre of the walled city. There's tons of cafes and places to eat.
It's by far my favorite hotel in Suwon. I have stayed here for 1 month before and when I'm in the city I always come back. The rooms are pretty big for it's price. Also, it's clean and offers a good view from the city. It's also close to many cafes, restaurants, drugstore, banks and etc. Never had any problem with the staff, they always treated super well. I really recommend this hotel for couple and family.
Cleanliness was what I appreciated most in this place. The room, hallways and elevators were clean and well lit. I also loved that despite being an affordable hotel, they implement good security measures including being able to access elevators only with a room key. The breakfast was also pretty good considering that it was free with the room.
The self service laundry facility was fantastic. The subway to Seoul station is less than 10 minutes walk away. There’s a home plus with supermarket and food court nearby. Rainy days during our stay in suwon, there’s food outlets near the hotel which is great help.
My next statement is no exaggeration. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in during my entire life. The entire building was beautiful and the location was absolutely perfect. If I get a chance to return to Suwon this is where I will stay. Thank you so much.
Everything was very good , breakfast was noodles and coffee which ok . The room was good , very comfortable with a big bathroom . Location was excellent only a stones throw from the entrance to the fortress. Nice area and it was very safe.
Shower was hot. Room was spacious. Convenient store is located at the entrance of the hotel. Staff are helpful. Very prime location (walkable distance to attractions, a lively district)
I stayed in this hotel with my friends and we all had different experience during the night. I had great stay with no problems. I enjoyed the comfortable bed and big TV.
